Presentation/demo: Basic equipment and procedure. Assignment: Do a small painting with your own photo
Session 2: (March 8, 2021, 12:00 – 3:00 PM CST)
Presentation/demo: Composition, value, drawing. Assignment: Paint composition only of the given photo.
Session 3: (March 15, 2021, 12:00 – 3:00 PM CST)
Presentation/demo: Color block-in, Color theory basic, Color mixing. Assignment: Continue painting, block-in color only.
Session 4: (March 22, 2021, 12:00 – 3:00 PM CST)
Presentation/demo: Modeling, edges, texture, color temperature and harmony. Assignment: Finish the painting.
Session 5: (March 29, 2021, 12:00 – 2:00 PM CST)
Workshop summary and group critique
Students finish the assignment in two days after each group session and email the image in. Qiang will set up individual zoom meeting with each student and comment on their works.

Interactive Online Workshop: Studio Oil Painting Process - Landscape
March 1 - 29, 2021, 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM CST on Mondays
Class size: 15 people maximum
Location: on Zoom
In this online workshop, Qiang will share his approach on how to create dynamic landscape paintings from reference photos. The workshop has 5 group Zoom meetings, each meeting will be 3 hours long except the last one, 2 hours. Using presentation, demonstration, and apps, Qiang will introduce his painting procedure, techniques, and knowledge. This workshop emphasizes the interaction between students and teacher. With Qiang’s guidance, students will complete their assignments and send photos of their work to Qiang to review. He will then set up individual meetings on Zoom to discuss and critique their work. All meetings will be recorded so students can access them at their convenient times. This workshop is designed for students of all levels.
