Workshop agenda:

Session 1: (April 19, 2021, 12:00 – 3:00 PM CST)

                Presentation/demo:  Basic equipment and procedure.

                Assignment: Do a small painting with your own photo

Session 2: (April 21, 2021, 12:00 – 3:00 PM CST)

                Presentation/demo:  Composition, value, drawing. 

Session 3: (April 26, 2021, 12:00 – 3:00 PM CST)

                Presentation/demo: Color block-in, Color theory basic, Color mixing.

                Assignment: Do another painting, emphasizing on value and color block-in.

Session 4: (April 28, 2021, 12:00 – 3:00 PM CST)

                Presentation/demo:  Modeling, edges, texture, color temperature and harmony. 




 
Assignments and individual critiques:

Students will have two assignments on April 21 and 26. They will finish the assignment within two days after the assignment date, and email the image in. Qiang will set up individual zoom meetings with each student and comment on their work. Students can also send images of their existing paintings for Qiang's comments. Critique meetings will be on either Thursdays or Fridays.

Interactive Online Workshop: ​ Studio Oil Painting Process - Landscape


April 19 - 30, 2021, 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM CST on Mondays and Wednesdays

Description:

In this online workshop, Qiang will share his approach on how to create a dynamic landscape painting from a reference photo. The workshop has 4 group Zoom meetings, each meeting will be 3 hours long. Using presentation, demonstration, and apps, Qiang will introduce his painting procedure, techniques, and knowledge. This workshop emphasizes the interaction between students and teacher. With Qiang’s guidance, students will complete assignments and send photos of their work to him to review. Qiang will then set up individual meetings on Zoom to discuss and critique their work. All meetings will be recorded so students can access them at their leisure. This workshop is designed for students of all levels.
